General Education Courses for Transfer
Start taking university level General Education (or "GE") courses online from your home country! If you've been admitted to a U.S. university, and you'd like to start taking general education courses before you arrive, contact your university advisor to discuss whether taking online courses at LAPC is the right choice for you. Verify whether the course(s) you plan to take at LAPC will transfer for credit.
LAPC is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), an institutional accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education and the U.S. Department of Education.
One of the advantages of taking courses at a community college is that tuition is generally less expensive than the cost of a university.
Program Information
General Education, also called GE or Gen Ed, is a pattern of classes that are a required part of all associates and bachelors degrees. If you plan to complete a degree in the U.S., there will be some GE required.
General Education provides opportunities for students to develop skills and knowledge from a variety of fields to help you understand the complex world in which you live. It will help you build a foundation for future coursework and lifelong learning. Through General Education, the college encourages you to become well informed, effective citizens of the world who actively participate in community affairs, cultivate self awareness, appreciate the arts and pursue lifelong learning.
