Apply for F-1 International Student Visa
You can apply for an F-1 International Student Visa once you have received admission to Los Angeles Pierce College (LAPC). The F-1 Visa is a nonimmigrant visa. A visa allows you to travel to a United States (U.S.) port of entry for a specific purpose and request permission to enter the U.S. However, a visa does not guarantee entry.
Visas are issued through the U.S. Department of State at the U.S. Embassies and consulates. Non-immigrant visa application instructions are available on the U.S. Embassy or Consulate website where you intend to apply the visa.
The steps below are provided for your information and can vary depending on the U.S. Embassy or Consulate. Visit the U.S. Department of State: Student Visa website for complete details.

The visa interview is your opportunity to tell the consular officer about your educational plans while in the U.S. Most interviews are short, only a few minutes. Make sure to have a clear idea why you are pursing your education in the U.S. Be prepared to explain:
- Why you chose LAPC and if your plans include transferring to a four-year university
- Your major or program of study
- Who is paying for your education
- You may also need to show strong ties to your home country and explain how your degree or certificate will help you when you return home.
During your visa interview, a consular officer will determine whether you are qualified to receive a visa. You will need to establish you meet the requirements under U.S. law to receive the visa you are applying for. Remember to bring all required documents.
When a visa is approved, a visa issuance fee payment may be required. You will also be informed how your passport with the visa will be returned to you.
