Review this information before meeting with a counselor for course evaluation:
A counselor can review coursework completed at other United States regionally accredited colleges and universities.
Bring the following to your counseling appointment:
- College transcript
- For review purposes, you may bring an unofficial copy
- Course descriptions from the college/university catalog
- Course syllabus
- Required for English composition and critical thinking courses completed at non-California community colleges.
You may be referred to a program department chair if the courses need to be evaluated for associate degree or certificate major requirements.
Students who have completed courses from an accredited university outside the United States may be able to apply the course credits toward an Associate degree at LAPC.
Before meeting with a counselor to review coursework, the student must have their academic records evaluated course by course (comprehensive evaluation) by a CTC-approved evaluation agency.
International coursework will NOT satisfy general education (GE) requirements for: English composition, U.S. history/government, and transfer GE requirements. The transferability of international courses will be determined by the transfer institution.

International Baccalaureate (IB) exams may be used to meet LAPC degree requirements. View our college catalog to learn more. The section on IB exams is located under "Scholastic Policies."
If you wish to review your exam scores with the ISS counselor, bring a copy of your scores to your counseling appointment.
If your IB exams will be used to meet LAPC degree requirements, you must request that your official scores be sent directly to the college Admissions & Records Office.
Once you have been admitted to LAPC International, you can schedule an appointment with a counselor for course evaluation. LAPC counselors can only evaluate your transcripts or exam scores for LAPC degrees and certificates.
Schedule an appointment with the International Student Services Counselor:
Bring all necessary documents to your appointment otherwise you may need to reschedule.
NOTE: If you are not an F-1 Visa international student, but you have international coursework you would like evaluated, contact the General Counseling Office.
The college Admissions & Records Office must have your official transcripts on file in order to validate your course passalongs or substitutions. Request that the institution you attended (or the evaluation agency you used for international coursework) send your transcripts directly to LAPC's main Admissions & Records Office. Do NOT have them send your transcripts to LAPC International.
