The Brahma Bodega and Basic Needs Program provides students with access to food, ongoing motivational support and referrals to agencies that are designed to meet students’ basic needs i.e. physical, psychological/emotional and economic needs. Our goal is to alleviate stressors in order to help students be successful at the college and beyond!
The program goals are to provide students in need with:
- Food and housing resources
- Referrals to campus and community student support programs

Hope Housing/Shower of Hope Housing Program
The Hope Housing/Shower of Hope program is for Pierce students of all genders at risk of homelessness or experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity (couch surfing or sleeping in a car, on the street, in a shelter, or in an unsafe/unstable environment).
Program requirements:
- 9 units of coursework required. Students enrolled in less than 9 units will be considered if willing to put together an educational plan that meets the program’s minimum requirements for the following semester.
- Minimum GPA requirement of 2.0 must be maintained
- There is a volunteer requirement for students who are currently not employed.
- Applicants who are currently facing housing insecurity (couch-surfing, sleeping in a car, in the streets, in a shelter, or an unstable or unsafe living environment).
- Applicants must single students, with no children ages 18-28.

Food Assistance
Brahma Bodega: For the Spring 2023 semester, students participating with the Brahma Bodega will have access to the following services:
- Daily snacks and weekly non-perishables at the Bodega
- Lunch provided in partnership with the college cafeteria
- Everytable meals in the evening at the college bookstore
- Bi-monthly food distribution events with fresh produce and non-perishables
CalFresh: CalFresh provides eligible students up to $281 monthly aid to purchase food at any store that accepts Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT). CalFresh is federally known as Supple-mental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and funded through the USDA, Farm Bill and CDSS. For assistance, e-mail @email to find out if you are eligible.
What's CalEITC?
- The California Earned Income Tax Credit (CalEITC) offers support for low-income, working Californians. You may be eligible for up to $3,417 cash back or a reduction of the tax you owe. Learn how to qualify and apply on our Eligibility and credit information page.
- CalEITC might also enable you to qualify for the Young Child and Foster Youth tax credits.
