Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP)
Los Angeles Pierce College (LAPC) F-1 Visa International Students are insured through a Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) mandated policy offered by LewerMark 1-800-821-7710.
The Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) is designed to cover most medical expenses in case of accident and/or illness. Certain exceptions may apply. An insurance representative provides information about coverage during the orientation for new international students.
Insurance Coverage Periods | Dates | Cost |
---|---|---|
Fall & Winter Terms | August 15 - January 31 | US $780 |
Spring & Summer Terms | February 1 - August 14 | US $780 |
The cost for a 6-month period of coverage is US $780. Costs are subject to change. Students are automatically billed for health insurance upon enrollment every Fall and Spring semester, payable to the college. Purchasing this plan is for your protection since healthcare in the U.S. can be very costly without insurance. There are no waivers for the LACCD insurance policy (LACCD Board Rule 2309.30). Even if you have another form of health insurance, you will still be required to purchase the college-issued medical insurance.
Once enrollment is verified by the the LACCD, an international student can obtain their insurance member ID card.
