Celebrating Pierce College’s Jack Kent Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship Semifinalists
Pierce College is proud to announce that four of our outstanding students, Chloe Bassirat, Muhammad Khan, Nicole Llerena and Christina Virchis, have been named semifinalists for the prestigious Jack Kent Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship. This is one of the most esteemed awards available to community college students nationwide, offering up to $55,000 per year to support the completion of a bachelor's degree at a four-year institution.
The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation's Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship is highly competitive, with 467 semifinalists selected from over 1,600 applicants attending 212 community colleges across 43 states. Final scholarship awards will be announced in May 2025.

Yvonne Grigg Named Pierce College 2025 Woman of the Year
A large contingency of Pierce College women joined President Aracely Aguiar at the eighth annual LACCD Woman of the Year Tea Celebration to honor Pierce College faculty and Accreditation Lead Yvonne Grigg as the college's Woman of the Year.
LACCD Board President Kelsey Iino, Interim Chancellor Alberto Roman and the majority of presidents from our LACCD sister colleges were also present to honor their school's women of the year.

Scholarship Alert: Betty Odello Perpetual Scholarship for Transfer Students
Pierce College's Philosophy and Sociology Department has opened applications for the 2025 Betty Odello Perpetual Scholarship, targeting students preparing to transfer to four-year institutions. The scholarship is designed to support students continuing their academic journey in philosophy and sociology-related fields. The application deadline is set for Monday, April 21, 2025.
Eligible students must meet specific criteria, including: Transferring to a four-year institution in Fall 2025; Completed at least 6 units in philosophy or sociology; On track to complete 9 units in these disciplines by transfer; Completed 30 units at Pierce College; Maintain a minimum 3.3 cumulative GPA at Pierce

Antigone: LAPC Theatre Production
